We are delighted to start the new year with a new band, fronted by the beautiful voice of Judy Dunlop, who was a member of the legendary Albion Band in the early-1990s. Judy is accompanied by accomplished guitarist and ceilidh fiddler, Jon Scaife who she has worked with for many years and Nigel Corbett, whose musical career began as a violinist with the Sheffield Symphony and Sheffield Philharmonic orchestras. Together they deliver a delightful selection of traditional and contemporary songs, with many a good chorus to join in with.
Phoebe Rees/ Tom Perry & Clive Brooks
Double Bill Event
Phoebe Rees is a dynamic new talent who has rapidly made a big impression in folk clubs and festivals over the last year. She sings and accompanies herself on the fiddle, viola and guitar, combining elements of Celtic, English and American Folk traditions with passion and well crafted musicianship.
Although they live 100 miles apart Tom and Clive regularly come together blending their voices expertly to deliver songs from the distant past along with some more recent. There is always space for more voices though with many choruses to welcome extra harmonies.
A welcome return to Burton for one of Scotland’s finest guitarists and singers. Ewan has come to be known as a performer at the very forefront of his generation; a troubadour, balladeer and storyteller cut in the old style; a singer that can move audiences with his passion and pathos and a songwriter for whom social justice is still a burning issue. Brace yourself for a spellbinding performance of songs that reach to the heart of human experience.
Alden Patterson and Dashwood
Highly acclaimed folk trio Alden Patterson and Dashwood weave rich vocal harmonies, fiddle, guitar and dobro around beautifully written original songs and melodies. Their music takes influence from English folk traditions with uplifting instrumentals and self-penned songs depicting tales of young travellers, sleepy seas and their affection for home. Over the last three years the trio have made a name as one of the best new acts on the scene and have toured the UK and Europe extensively including main stage slots at the UK’s most prestigious festivals.
