Established in 1915, the Bute Medical Society is one of St Andrews' oldest, largest and most active student societies

Isy Schlegel
President
The public face of the society. The President is responsible for making sure that the other committee members are able to perform their roles, chairing committee meetings, presenting a review of the year at the AGM and taking on responsibilities that don't fall within anyone else's remit.

Shiv Bakrania
Vice President
The president's second in command. Responsible for organising the first-year rep elections, annual society photo, as well as arranging sponsorship for the society.

Rob Spedding
Treasurer
Responsible for keeping track of the money in the cash box and bank account(s) at all times, presenting a financial review of the year at the AGM, paying any and all expenses, making financial decisions and submitting the society's financial details for audit at the end of the academic year.

Cait Murphy
Secretary
Responsible for creating minutes to document every Committee meeting, helping with organisation and communication within the society (including weekly emails), maintaining affiliation with the Union and organising Cheese and Wine events that introduce the society to the wider aspects of Medical Science.

Charlotte Calvert
Charities Rep
Responsible for organising fundraising events with the aim of raising awareness and money for selected charities over the course of the year. At the beginning of each year they will select a local and an international charity to support.

Margot Hiza
Charities Rep
Responsible for organising fundraising events with the aim of raising awareness and money for selected charities over the course of the year. At the beginning of each year they will select a local and an international charity to support.

Saumya Maheshwari
Social Rep
Responsible for organising several Balls e.g. FAF ball, St Vitus etc. along with many other social events throughout the year. They play a large role in creating fellowship within the society.

Timmy Wiggam

Responsible for organising several Balls e.g. FAF ball, St Vitus etc. along with many other social events throughout the year. They play a large role in creating fellowship within the society.

Josh Edozien
Sports Rep
Responsible for organising sports teams and events within the society and arrange for sports teams to be entered into other tournaments both within and beyond the university. They shall also be responsible for arranging the clothing order for the society each year.

Alice Solerod
2nd Year Rep
Responsible for organising Hecklings for the new society members each year along with helping to arrange other events. Act as spokespersons for the 2nd years and responsible for gaining feedback on how best to improve the society.

Charlotte Strange
1st Year Rep

Elliot Rooney
Publicity Officer
Responsible for creating and distributing posters around the university to advertise BMS events as well as other media including but not limited to photography and video.

Mairi Crosby
Bute Ball Convener
Responsible for the organisation of the premier Bute event; the annual Bute Ball. Responsible for sponsorship and ensuring that the Bute Ball runs smoothly.

Morven Reid
3rd Year Rep
Organises and produces the Leavers’ Yearbook Responsible for maintaining the Alumni network and the annual alumni football match.

Sarah Eshkour
Research Rep
Responsible for liaising with the Secretary, working with other medical and scientific societies of St Andrews and other universities to organize academic or research-related events, with the aim of introducing the society to the wider aspects of Medical Science.

Khalif Aziz
Non-Medic Rep
Responsible for providing a link between the Bute Medical Society and non-medic students.

Peter Jones
Bute Revue Director
Director and producer of the Bute Revue, the annual talent/comedy showcase on stage near the end of the academic year, all in the name of charity.

Fiona Shields
ScotGEM Rep
Act as a spokesperson for the ScotGEM class, relaying information to and from that year including gaining feedback on how best to improve the society.
