The MD2017 Entered the amateur radio media with 3000 memories and boasting the first dual channel dmr, Well! Who actualy manufactures the radios? Because ReteVis also produce a stunning example. Better firmware and a much nicer antenna design! I am told that ReteVis are the manufacturer for both the md2017 and RT82 radio, who truly knows!!! Answers on a post card to: someone who cares, pobox99.
For me the ReteVis is a more attractive radio and the antenna design is better on the eye, the jury is out on what the masses settle on! But the RT82 is a peach of a radio, I have both the md2017 and the RT82 I just gravitate toward the ReteVis and having used both for a couple of days side by side I will buy an RT 82 for myself..
You can purchase one now, they are in stock @www.hamradio.co.uk order before 1pm Friday 7th for Saturday delivery option.. mention me! 😉
The roller ball is rather odd, and the faux “D” button is annoying..
You require yet another programming cable as the data clip has changed to a rather cheap moulding..
Performance wise it’s good, as is the build quality…
As always I like to shout out to some of the repeater keepers that help me out, so HI to the guys @GB7FC Dave and the team in Blackpool who work hard to keep a string of DMR and C4FM repeaters on air! in fact they are working on the FIRST Multi mode repeater system.. not cheap! don’t forget to donate if you can!!
